He said that the service of Granthi at this holy place was blessed by Guru Arjan Dev Ji as he had honoured Baba Buddha Sahib as the first Granthi Singh during the first enshrinement of Guru Granth Sahib here. He said that after the establishment of Amritsar city by Guru Ramdas Ji, the fifth Patshah, the Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Guru established Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib and provided a spiritual center to the whole world where people from all walks of life pay obeisance and offer their prayers. Later, as per the tradition, they offered the Karah Parsad Deg at Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai and recited the Hukamnama there as well.Įarlier, Giani Jagtar Singh, while addressing the Sangat at the ceremony apprised them of the history and tradition of Sewa of the holy shrine and termed the service as a blessing of the Guru Sahib. Three newly-appointed Granthi Singhs of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib were today handed over charge of their service as per Panthic Maryada (conduct) at a special ceremony (Sewa Sambhal Samagam) organised at Sri Akal Takht Sahib.Īs per the decision taken by the executive committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh made separate announcements of the appointments namely Giani Rajdeep Singh, Giani Sultan Singh, and Giani Baljit Singh as ‘Granthi Singhs’ of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, which were accepted amid the Jaikaras (victory slogan – Bole So Nihal Sat Sri Akal) by the present Panthic personalities and the Sangat (congregation).Īfter this Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib head granthi Giani Jagtar Singh, SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur, Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Patna Sahib Giani Ranjit Singh Gauhar-e-Maskin, representatives of Shiromani Akali Dal and religious sabha societies and prominent personalities presented turbans and Siropao (robe of honour) to the newly appointed Granthi Singhs.Īfter the ceremony, the Granthi Singhs offered Karah Parsad Deg (sacred pudding) at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib and as per the Sikh tradition, all three separately recited the holy Hukamnama inside the sanctum sanctorum of the shrine to start their service. ![]()
